I think it was Kevlex that made the point that a cape can blur your outline and make you somewhat more difficult to target. My personal suggestion is that a lightweight, dark cape could allow you the benefit of quick camouflage in a variety of situations. From experience, very few people notice a shadow amongst shadows. Another camouflage usage for a cape may lie in using one of those mylar "emergency blankets" to camouflage yourself with in the (admittedly rare) case you might be being searched for via infrared - and even this would only be good for a minute or two at best until the heat reflective mylar actually got warm itself. Silk is lousy for a costume (it doesn't stretch or "breathe" very well), but the right kind actually is somewhat cut-resistant (to an extent) and might make for a cape that could be wrapped around an arm quickly to block a slash attack. Anyhow, that's my take on capes. -Trouvere
