That would depend on what you're fighting for, and what you're protecting, Jenny Creed. Some crimes are not illegal. Obviously the function of the costumed vigilante is to work outside the constraints of the system of society, when society cannot come to a consensus to stop an action, is unwilling to stop a crime, or act quickly enough. If there is an opportunity to help a law enforcement agency apprehend a suspect in a crime, make sure it's done lawfully. Otherwise, a vigilante's basic concern is for his or her own safety, and pursuing justice. If what they're doing is the right thing to do, I believe that supersedes the legality of the action.
