Hey all, I never got the time until now to write how this weekend went. I actually spent about 6 hours in Dallas on Saturday, wandering through some of the taller-building-ed areas, trying to stay in alleys and shadows as much as possible. I passed a few people from a ways away, but nobody paid me much attention. I never realized just how frickin' huge a city it was. I had to drive for a while through the outlying areas before I found a comfortable place to park and leave my car alone, and I probably never made it more than a mile away from there, exploring and sneaking. I moved my car a few times as I went deeper in. Sunday night I spent about two hours in downtown Fort Worth, and got hassled by the same bike cop twice before going back to my car and heading home. He didn't believe my "I always go out for late night walks because of my night job" story. Jerk. The middle of downtown Fort Worth is just too mainstreamed...the outer edges are poorer and less well-guarded, but it's mostly squat houses out there, so sneaking around backyards would've likely ended me up in jail. :) All in all, it was uneventful but fun and enlightening...I heartily recommend it to anyone wanting to know their city better. Considering Dallas is the most corrupt/worst crime rate city in America, I'm glad it's easier to sneak around.
